Raising money on behalf of the sadly missed Matt Long, the brilliant and charismatic blues guitarist, singer and front-man of "Catfish" who lost his battle with cancer aged just  29.

Local bands "KAZOOM" and "EASY SKANKING" promise an evening of fun and delight in music. Neither are blues bands but that's not the idea.

What we have is musicians simply playing for, and with respect to, a young man who gave so many so much pleasure through HIS music.

This new show is much more than a Carpenters tribute; it sensitively explores the music of the Carpenters from their early attempts to get a ‘break’, to some of their greatest influences (such as the Beatles, Burt Bacharach & the Beach Boys) as well as the challenges faced along their way to stardom and, ultimately, to tragedy. 

Sympathetically re-creating the nuances and detailed characteristics of the beautiful soulful contralto tones of Karen Carpenter.

The three remaining members of multiple UK blues award winners Catfish, following the sad death of frontman Matt Long in October 2024, have come together with superb guitarist Alex Voysey to form a new band, Burning Rope.

They will be performing the songs written for Catfish by keyboard player Paul Long and also songs he wrote for his previous band The Riotous Brothers.  

The guys are also writing new material together. Join us if you can.

With his trademark hard-hitting ‘take no prisoners’ comedy (this is what Hal told me to write!!!) he will be hilariously pontificating on subjects like middle aged dating, social media, the insanity of modern politics and the fact that his daughters love him but don’t respect him.
